Frugal Plus

I received the ingredients for an easy and (they tell me) tasty appetizer to review! A jar of Heinz Chili sauce, a can of Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry sauce and a recipe for the Ultimate Party Meatballs.

Ingredients:

* 1 14-ounce can Ocean Spray® Jellied Cranberry Sauce
* 1 12-ounce bottle Heinz® Chili Sauce
* 1 2-pound bag frozen, pre-cooked, cocktail-size meatballs

Directions:

Combine sauces in a large saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring until smooth. Add meatballs. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until meatballs are heated through, stirring occasionally.

Makes 30 appetizer servings.

Slow cooker Preparation: Place meatballs in a slow cooker. Combine sauces and pour over meatballs. Cover and cook 4 hours on HIGH.

A Few Tips:

* Want to spice things up? Add 1 teaspoon cumin and ¼ teaspoon cayenne to your meatball sauce.
* The simplest way to serve an Ultimate Party Meatball is on a toothpick. Just be sure to put out an attractive dish for the used ones.
* Can’t get enough sauce? Try using two cans of cranberry sauce and two bottles of chili sauce for maximum sauciness.
* Saucy meatballs can be as messy as they are delicious. So be sure to have plenty of napkins and small plates ready.
* Hardcore meatball fans may want to go for the full meatball sub. So put some fresh rolls and cheese slices out on a platter so guests know it’s ok to indulge.
* You may be all about meatballs, but there’s a chance a few of your guests might be more about vegetables, so just make sure you serve up an option or two for the vegetarians in the house.

I’m going to have to double the recipe next time for all of us. I wouldn’t have thought to mix Heinz Chili Sauce with Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce, much less, that it tastes this scrumptious together. Plus, you can’t beat the simplicity for those last minute get-together’s, or a special appetizer for family night.

I highly recommend you try out this recipe I prepared the original recipe this time, and will be trying some of the variations mentioned above in the near future!
