Award-winning authors Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey join forces for the first time with the release of their thrilling World War II-era fiction novel, The Swiss Courier.
Set in Switzerland during August 1944, The Swiss Courier whisks readers into the height of World War II as Nazi threats mount and governments race to develop the world’s first atomic bomb.
Gabi Mueller is a young Swiss-American woman working as a spy for the newly formed American Office of Strategic Services (the forerunner to the CIA) close to Nazi Germany. She is asked to put her life on the line to safely “courier” a defecting German nuclear physicist—who’s working on the atomic bomb project—out of Germany and into Switzerland, sending her into enemy territory to keep him (and his secrets) safe from the hands of the Gestapo.
As Gabi takes on this do-or-die mission, the fate of the world rests in her hands. If she can lead him to safety, she can keep the Germans from developing nuclear capabilities. But in a time of traitors and uncertainty, whom can she trust along the way?
This fast-paced, suspenseful novel takes readers along treacherous twists and turns during a fascinating—and deadly—time in history. Well-researched, The Swiss Courier includes true historical events to give the story greater authenticity. Danger, suspense and romance abound in this engaging page-turner.
“Filled with heart-stopping suspense and fascinating details of life in WWII Europe, The Swiss Courier is an unforgettable story of faith and courage …. This is more than a page-turner; it’s a keeper.” — Amanda Cabot, author
“A tense, fast-paced thriller that takes the reader on an exciting ride.” — Kathleen Fuller, author
“With an intensity that builds to the very end, this book is compelling, chilling, and fascinating.” — Lenora Worth, author
“What I love about The Swiss Courier is its gutsy heroine Gabi. Willing to take risks for the higher good, yet vulnerable,
Gabi is a wonderful portrayal of the tender strength of womanhood. Add that to a twisting plot, the raging of World War II,
and a kindling love story and you have an enjoyable read.” — Mary E. DeMuth, author
You will be immediately transported back to the World War II era with this intriguing mystery. It has specific and accurate historical detail which when combined with the individual characters that are strong-willed, yet have their own weaknesses, it was difficult remembering that this novel is in fact Fiction. Gabi’s special mission is to escort Joseph Engel, who’s pre-determined to have important information on a special weapon that the German’s want. Gabi is to get him out of there before he becomes a victim of the Gestapo. The twists and turns of this fast paced adventure will keep you turning the pages. I liked the fact that it holds a deep Christian message as well.

Sounds like a real thriller. A must read. I am 83 and I was in WW11. How do you know so much about that war. You two are too young.

As the co-author of “The Swiss Courier,” let me offer my thanks, Jill and Shawn Ann, for the very gracious review of our World War II thriller. We’re getting some nice notices for the book, and we appreciate you helping us get the word out. In response to Angelo’s comment about how we know so much about this time period, especially because I was born in 1954 and Tricia was born in the 1970s, the answer is interviews and research, plus I lived in Switzerland for 18 months and spoke with people who lived during the war. One of our most interesting interviews with was a woman, who is your age, who was a teenager living about 200 years from the German border in the Basel area. She told us how, in 1940, they were prepared to evacuate in case of a German invasion, which was a real threat. Anyway, I’m sure you’d love the book . . . we’re hearing from a lot of folks your age who appreciate the story, so hopefully you can get “The Swiss Courier.” If you do read our novel, please let us know what you think!
