The Secret of Indigo Moon (Dopple Ganger Chronicles) …

From best-selling author G.P. Taylor comes the highly anticipated second installment of The Dopple Ganger Chronicles, a series that combines art and traditional text to help “reluctant readers” discover the wonder of books.
Erik Morissey Ganger, famed explorer and detective (well, in his dreams), and his mischief-making sidekicks, twins Sadie and Saskia Dopple, didn’t go looking for a secret tunnel beneath the school. They never intended to make the acquaintance of a shifty private eye with a nose for trouble. It wasn’t part of the plan to come face to face with an old enemy, one with an agenda of his own that could destroy them all. And unraveling the “secret of indigo moon” was the farthest thing from their minds.
At Isambard Dunstan’s School for Wayward Children, these things just seem to happen.
In The Secret of Indigo Moon, confirmed troublemakers Erik, Sadie, and Saskia plunge headlong into a new and perilous mystery, one that challenges everything they thought they knew about their lives, themselves, and whom it’s safe to trust.

G.P. Taylor’s first volume in The Doppleganger Chronicles is “The First Escape”. The Secret of Indigo Moon picks up where the last one left off with some creepy sounds coming from the basement of Isambard Dunstan’s School for Wayward Children. And Erik Ganger, the only boy living in the school, hears everything and goes to investigate. And that begins a furious ride to discover the truth behind some recent burglaries, a missing headmistress, and the Secret of Indigo Moon. Some old characters re-surface, and some new ones are added to the mix, making this adventure just as exciting.

Like the first book, The Secret of Indigo Moon is told through a different style than I’m used to… comics, and atmospheric black and white photos.   Although, I’m sure the Kids will appreciate this Comic Style of reading.  It does reach right out at you with the typeset and fonts!
I suspect that it’ll work well with readers who struggle with regular chapter books.

Indications of future new mysteries are added on in the last few pages, and the Dopple twins definitely have quite a few things to think about as they prepare to embark on their next adventure, the Doppler Twins against the World!

I would advise that older kiddo’s, ages 9 and older read this series, as my youngest stated that it looked a bit scary for her.

If you’re living a perfect, charmed life . . . well, then this book isn’t going to be for you. But if, like the rest of us, you are at times broken, confused, lonely, or scared—if you’re struggling with problems that you think “good Christians” don’t have—then welcome, girlfriend, and pull up a chair! This quirky, friendly, and gut-honest devotional comes straight from the heart of Ellen Miller (CEO, marketing executive, mom, and unapologetic “glorious mess”). Despite the serious struggles she’s faced, Ellen today lives a life of profound joy, and The One Year Book of Inspiration contains 365 days worth of the principles and philosophies that have gotten her there. You’ll find there’s no subject she’s afraid to tackle! Her quick, daily doses of encouragement will make you laugh, give you something to look forward to each day, help you to stay (somewhat!) sane … and remind you that you’re never alone.

Myself, I wouldn’t title this a Devotional. To me, it is more of an autobiography of the Author’s life to-date, and is in raw form, taken from real life events, and is gut-honest. I did like this book, some advise I would take, other, not-so-much. However, I do like the straightforward, and even quirky reflections of a woman who has lived and experienced life just as we have. She definitely does have a passion for life and I think you would be missing out if you didn’t pick up a copy of The One Year Inspiration for Girlfriends!

There is a bible verse along with each daily read. You can apply this to your life as you see fit. Anyone looking for direct bible passages in more of a “stringent” devotional won’t find this in this book.

Ellen Miller is passionate about life balance. Why? Because she knows from experience the miserable feeling we have when we’re “off our game” and the joy we can get from everyday life when we’re hitting on all cylinders. Her motto is: “You can have it all—just not every day.”
