Never Settle for Less Than His Best..

In How to Reach Your Full Potential for God, acclaimed pastor and speaker Charles Stanley connects readers with the plan and purpose God envisioned when He created them.

“Things are never going to change” or “This is just the way I am–I’m never going to get better” are just a few of the damaging lies Christians believe about themselves, their situations, and their walk. But Dr. Stanley shares the real truth as God sees it.

In this powerful and inspiring message, readers reconnect with the grand vision God had when He uniquely created them. They learn that regardless of setbacks, failures, and frustrations, there is a better path based in His Word, one that’s full of freedom and purpose. This book takes them to their specifically designed path to become exactly who the Father made them to be and achieve exactly what He designed them for.

“Your ultimate purpose is to bring Him glory by the way you live”

For me personally, this is such a powerful quote by Dr. Stanley. This doesn’t mean we all fall short at one time or another, but to strive to be the best we can and teach our children the same morals.

This book that gives us the “essentials”, the tools to help us with keeping balance with the Biblical principles. Dr. Stanley discusses the 7 “essentials” to live an abundant Christian life:

1. A Clean Heart

2. A Clear Mind

3. Using Your Gifts

4. A Healthy Body

5. Right Relationships

6. A Balanced Schedule

7. Taking God-Approved Risks

This is a Wonderful reference to go back to time and time again! There is such a wealth of knowledge.

The Seven areas of ongoing renewal Dr. Stanley reminds us of:

1. Continually reaffirm your commitment to the Lord

2. Continually reaffirm your priorities

3. Reestablish your disciplines daily

4. Reaffirm your desire to do your best

5. Rekindle your enthusiasm

6. Continually refresh yourself in the Lord

7. Revisit the vision God has for your life

God does have a will, plan and purpose for your life! It’s up to us to seek Him and reach our full potential!

Reflections on the Role of Faith in our Nation’s History and Future…

Take a walk through Washington, DC with Newt and Callista Gingrich to view our nation’s historic monuments and memorials. You will quickly find yourself on a profound and surprising walk of discovery and renewal.

Your first stop will be the National Archives, where Thomas Jefferson’s immortal words from the Declaration of Independence that all “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,” jump off the page with the inescapable truth that from day one in our country’s history, the source of freedom was neither the state nor even the Founding Fathers.

This book takes you on a guided tour of all the national monuments and government buildings in our Nation’s Capital. It explains their rich history, and the evidence of the role God played in our country’s history, and not too distant past.

Throughout the book you will enjoy reading quotes from our past presidents, and take in the moving photography of Callista Gingrich.

Though a short read, it’s a powerful one! It’s a reminder of the principals our Country was founded on and what should be upheld not only for us, but for our children, and the generations to come.

A storybook accounting of the most memorable people and remarkable events of the Bible.

Stretching across both the Old and New Testaments, this heirloom edition provides readers with the tales of the Bible in an easy-to-navigate, storybook format. From the creation of the universe to Jesus’ promise to return to Earth again, the NKJV Greatest Stories of the Bible recounts more than two hundred fifty of the most valuable lessons and triumphs from the most memorable people of the Bible. Enjoy reading these stories again and again and gain new insight into their meanings.

My initial reaction when receiving this Awesome Book was Wow! The appearance of the book is made to look like something you would find in your grandparents attic, a beautiful “old time” hardback cover, worn, yet sturdy pages. Definitely a book you would want to hand down to family members!

The NKJV Greatest Stories of the Bible is a collection of 250 stories from both the Old and New Testaments in storybook format. The stories of the scripture are divided into easy to read sections. Another great feature is that you don’t have to know the exact scripture to find a story, The table of contents lists the stories from Genesis to Revelation. Since this is a “storybook” of scripture, some books of the Bible aren’t included or only partially used. However, a superb read for any age.

I highly recommend purchasing the “Greatest Stories of the Bible” for yourself, and it would also make a wonderful gift!

The American Patriot’s Bible Review

The American Patriot’s Bible The Word of God and The Shaping of America

Never has a version of the Bible targeted the spiritual needs of those who love our country more than The American Patriot’s Bible. This extremely unique Bible shows how the history of the United States connects the people and events of the Bible to our lives in a modern world. The story of the United States is wonderfully woven into the teachings of the Bible and includes a beautiful full-color family record section, memorable images from our nation’s history and hundreds of enlightening articles which complement the New King James Version Bible text.

Check out the You Tube Video here!

The American Patriot’s Bible is an intense but very interesting read!    There are some well known facts, as well as, many others I wasn’t aware of.

When our nation’s Founding Fathers gave us documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and others, they had to lean upon a common understanding of  law, government, social order, and morality.  Whether each of the Founding Fathers was a Christian wasn’t really the issue, it was the fact that they embraced the following seven  principals as the basis for a civilized nation.

Principal #1  – The Dignity of Human Life

Principal #2 – The Traditional Monogamous Family

Principal #3 – A National Work Ethic

Principal #4 – The Right to a God-Centered Education

Principal #5 – The Abrahamic Covenant

Principal #6 – Common Decency

Principal #7 – Our Personal Accountability to God

I would recommend this Bible to any person that wants to reaffirm, or be reminded of their Patriotism.

His Name Is Jesus by Max Lucado Review

I am a Book Review Blogger for Thomas Nelson, whom publishes and produces Christian books, bibles, videos, software, audio, Children books and toys, Women of Faith conferences, events and more.

I chose for my second review, His Name Is Jesus The Promise of God’s Love Fulfilled by Max Lucado.

Drawing from his classic writing on Jesus combined with new reflections and breathtaking art, Max Lucado again opens our eyes-and hearts-to the life and work of the Savior in a way that will change lives forever. “Jesus was, at once, common and not; alternately normal and heroic. One minute blending in with the domino players in the park, the next commanding the hell out of madmen, disease out of the dying, and death out of the dead.” Who was this man who spoke as easily with kids and fishermen as widows and waves? It is the question that has echoed down through the centuries to us today, and here is a visually stunning book that answers aspects of that question.

Not only did I find this book inspirational, it has passages to carry you in today’s daily life. With the fantastic illustrations and the easy to read format, this makes for an Awesome Gift and/or Coffee Table Book for you!

Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World by David Jeremiah Review

Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World What on Earth Should We Do Now? …

Practical instruction for living a confident life in a world filled with chaos and crisis.

In this follow-up book to his best seller, What in the World Is Going On?, Dr. David Jeremiah identifies ten aspects to live confidently in a world of uncertainty, and honoring Christ through it all. These ten principles encourage us to stay centered on Christ, stay confident in the Word, stay compassionate toward others, and stay connected to the church, and much more. While following these principles won’t bring peace on earth, they will produce in you a confidence that cancels out the anxiety of the chaos in our world. If your confidence is being eroded by world events, let Living With Confidence in a Chaotic World show you what to do to stay confident in Christ. The days in which we live are challenging; no one can deny that fact. How do we live in confidence and faith during these challenging times? In light of the chaotic events outlined in What in the World Is Going On?, this new book shows us how we can continue to live a life of commitment and confidence. Looking through the lens of the same verses that speak of Christ’s return, Dr. Jeremiah now points us to the habits we must establish that will form a pattern for living with certain hope in our uncertain times.

In the New York Times best-seller What in the World Is Going On? Dr. David Jeremiah summarized ten prophetic clues that are coming true in our own generation. In light of these chaotic events, how can we continue to live a life of commitment and confidence? Looking through the lens of the same verses that speak of Christ’s return Dr. Jeremiah now points us to the habits we must establish that will form a pattern for living with certain hope in our uncertain times. They include how to stay:

* Centered in Christ
* Committed to the Word
* Compassionate toward others
* Connected to the church
* Consistent in your walk
* Calm in your heart
* Certain of His coming
* Confident in your faith

On a daily basis we all deal with stressors such as losing a job, losing a home, children in an education system that is in shambles, crime and gang activity, and also natural disasters that disrupt lives. All of this can be quite the overwhelming load if you choose to carry it yourself.

Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World shows us how to keep grounded and focused on God during this confusing and difficult time. Dr. David Jeremiah gets to the point, and is direct in his writing. We all are tested and he shows us how to effectively “deal” with the chaos by doing your “daily reps”…
Here are the reps that will guide you toward a perfect execution of the Christian life:
Study your Bible reflectively daily
Be a person of Prayer

He tells us to Read, Pray, Serve, Repeat daily. The only way to be strong enough is to continue your “daily reps and remain vigilant. Beth Moore also writes that we should desire a steady diet of Scripture because of what it says about itself: it is “living and active” -Hebrews 4:12.

“None of us know what the future holds for our own crisis. My prayer for you is that you come through your crisis strong. This can be a time of maturity for all of us, helping us to understand that we are not citizens of this world, and that we cannot place our faith in any of its establishments or institutions. As we await His return, we trust Him to care for our every need, and we remember that Jesus himself said, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head -Matthew 8:20″

“Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World” shows us all that with the power and love of Almighty God we can live with confidence in this age of turmoil.

Find Your Strongest Life by Marcus Buckingham Review

In Find Your Strongest Life, Marcus Buckingham reveals the powerful key to bring fulfillment, peace, and control into a woman’s life.

In today’s world, can a woman truly “have it all”? A fulfilling career full of passion and performance? A belief that she is truly becoming the best, authentic version of herself? A happy, healthy life outside of work?

Countless women would roll their eyes at the possibility. Work is overwhelming. And for many of them, add the necessities of family and home. It all feels disconnected, out of control, and relentless.

In Find Your Strongest Life, Marcus Buckingham reveals the powerful key to help women draw enough strength from life to feel fulfilled, loved, successful, and in control. Even more, he helps women reconnect with their purpose and gives a starting point for change. A research-based message that applies to work and life, Find Your Strongest Life shows women how they really can have it all…the right kind of all.

Find Your Strongest Life was born out of a need to respond to questions such as these. The book challenges ingrained myths about women, tackles the paradox of declining female happiness, and demonstrates that the happiest and most successful women:

* Don’t agonize over who they aren’t—they accept and act on who they are. They have discovered the role they were born to play and they play it.
* Don’t juggle—they catch-and-cradle. They don’t keep things at bay, but select a few things and draw them in close.
* Don’t strive for balance—they strive for fullness. They intentionally imbalance their lives toward those moments that make them feel strong.
* Always sweat the small stuff—They know and act on the specific details of what invigorates them (and they let go of what doesn’t strengthen them).

Today’s  women are better educated, have better jobs, bigger paychecks, more choices about mates, careers, just about everything. But that has not translated into women being happier. Actually with more choices the opposite is true. Women’s overall happiness has been on a steady decline since 1972. This decline in happiness occurs across the board, regardless of whether women have children, how many they have, or how much they earn.

I am a strong-minded person, initially some of the statements in this book took me aback. However, after thinking about it for awhile, I realized that I was looking at this in a defensive mode, instead of taking my strengths and and channeling them in a different mindset.

First of all, you have to figure out exactly what your strengths are by focusing on the activities in your life as much as possible, on the things which you feel strongest, and most fulfilled. Next, you want to make an effort to eliminate as much of the rest as you possibly can. Once you’ve accomplished this, you’re well on your way to a more self-confident, contented life!

Remember, happiness doesn’t necessarily require abandoning everything you own and running away to live an entirely different life. Even small changes in the right direction, can change your life for the better!

This ended up being quite a heavy read for me. You’ll definitely take something positive from it though!

Strong Life Test can be a powerful tool enabling women to tap into their best selves and find their strongest lives.

The Strong Life Test presents you with a number of scenarios and then challenges you to identify which decision you would make. Be sure to go with your top-of-mind response; your immediate, unfiltered reaction is always the most revealing.
