JumpStart Pet Rescue for Wii – Review

PetRescueBlue1

I was given the opportunity to review a pre-released copy of JumpStart’s Pet Rescue for the Wii!  After doing a review for JumpStart’s Online Educational Games, I jumped at the opportunity to review another one of their products.

WiiPetRescueCoverArtPet Rescue has been rated “Early Childhood” but the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board). Being aimed at kids ages 3-6, and as you may know my son just turned 4 back in July.  Needless to say, when I showed him the game and said that it was HIS to play he was overjoyed!

Before I allowed him to play, I had to take a peek myself and see what it was all about and how easy it was to use (Thaddeus hasn’t played many video games).

  • Pet rescue and care are incorporated into the game storyline. Children can feed, groom, play with, and train their pets.

Pet Rescue Review

This was a very interesting review to do, to say the least.  Thankfully I had my little guy, Thaddeus, to help out!  First impressions of the game, we had mixed reviews.  It looks like a really great game for children ages 3-6, but we found it a little hard to navigate with the normal Wii remote.  After going through the different worlds and trying the areas out, it became a little easier to navigate, but Thaddeus still had a hard time trying to maneuver his way through the game.  I think if we were to use a normal game controller (like we used to have when we were kids) it would make it a lot easier to play.

The best part of this game is the learning.  There are all kinds of learning games and with various levels.  Here are a few pictures from the game to give you a little incite on the game.

Thaddeus’ favorite part of the game was the My House section where you were able to make changes to your house.  He also LOVED the Dressing Tent where you get to create your own player.  Of course he also liked playing the different games and he especially liked the slide in the game (you’ll see that in the video).

My favorite part of Rescue Pets is the learning you get from it.  There are several learning games, which are:

  • Balloon Sorting
  • Barnyard Fun
  • Bug Catcher
  • Bunny Fun
  • Critter Creator
  • Lumchbox
  • Matching Duckies
  • Matching Kites
  • Matching Ladybugs
  • Monkey Drop
  • Present Search
  • Retell a Story
  • Sound Box
  • Treasure Chest

Another part of Rescue Pets that I like is that you get to rescue animals and they follow you throughout the game!

My Review

I was provided a copy of Escape from Adventure Island from JumpStart in order for me to post my review.

You may remember a while back I did another review for Jumpstart, this was of their first Wii game.  Unlike the other game, this one is a bit more advanced for elementary age students.  Thaddeus will be starting school next year and we thought this would be a great game for him to play because it is for learning.  We found that Escape from Adventure Island to be a little more advanced that Thaddeus because he only knows the basic math (anything he can add using his fingers) and he’s not reading just yet (other than his name, and a few other words).  However, we know that once he gets into school this game will be a lot of help to him.  With that being said, I think you can say that Thaddeus had fun “playing” and “learning”.

You can purchase from Escape from Adventure Island Amazon on November 17th for $29.99 or pre-order your copy now by clicking below.
