The eagerly-anticipated 6th book: “Ivy & Bean: Doomed to Dance”, in the in the Ivy and Bean series by Annie Barrows is here! With more than 675,000 copies of the Ivy & Bean sold, this series is a big hit with kids, parents and teachers alike.
“Finally! After begging their parents for ballet lessons, Ivy and Bean finally get what they want…well, not exactly. Much to their surprise, it turns out ballet lessons do not include karate chops and roundhouse kicks to the villain’s heart. The girls have no interest in learning how to dance gracefully, but they promised their parents they would finish the entire ballet course! When it comes time for Ivy and Bean to participate in the ocean-themed class recital, the girls must figure out a way to get out of it without breaking their promises”.
The irresistible Ivy and Bean are introduced to ballet through a book that Ivy’s grandmother sent her. Both Ivy and Bean are intrigued by the fancy outfits. They’re sure that it’s the perfect thing for them.
When they start lessons at Madame Joy’s School of the Ballet, they find out that it’s not all glitz and glamour. When the girl’s find out that they have been chosen to be Squids at the recital, which they’re not even sure what that is, they are plotting on how to get out of this embarrassing situation.
Did they make a terrible mistake wanting to take ballet lessons or will they flourish and become the glitzy ballerina’s they hoped for?
My girl’s loved this chapter book, and could relate on some level, since they are in cheer at their local school. Once again Annie Barrows has written a Terrific addition to the Ivy and Bean Series!
