She Still Calls Me Daddy Building A New Relationship with Your Daughter After You Walk Her Down The Aisle By Robert Wolgemuth is a guidebook for fathers to help them create a new adventure with their married daughters.
“She Still Calls Me Daddy” is Robert Wolgemuth’s sequel to “She Calls Me Daddy” in which he writes about his experiences of being a father to a two married daughters and his journey of going through the loss of being a “dad”, as well as learning how to establish a new relationship with his married daughter(s). Numerous sections in this book are dedicated to understanding how to create a bond with your new son-in-law(s), and what role he plays in the life of your daughter(s).
Standing at the altar giving their little girl away begins a new day and the need for a new way for fathers to relate to their daughters. It reminds fathers of the important role they still play while offering insight as to how it must change in the next chapter of their girls’ lives. Topics cover seven relational issues:
* Protection
* Conversation
* Affection
* Discipline
* Laughter
* Faith
* Conduct
This book also includes thoughts on an ongoing relationship as well as on becoming a grandfather.
I chose to have my husband review this book through Thomas Nelson, because we have 3 grade-school girl’s just waiting to bud into teens, then adult-hood. Having been through this rocky transition before, we could use any additional guidance on how to smoothly transition from one level of being parents, especially the father’s role into the next. Combined with issues we have worked out before, this makes for a very insightful book. It actually sparks useful “tools” to be taken into consideration during this transition.
You will both laugh and cry while reading this book. It is hard as parents, especially a father’s ability to let go of their “little girls” and continue a close, loving relationship, only on another level.
Thanks goes out to
for the opportunity to review this very insightful book!
