This heartening tale involves Tally, a good witch, who is losing her power to fly. She befriends a Scarecrow and he comes up with a plan to save her flying power. Together they are able to get back Tally’s flying power, express their gratitude to each other, and give young readers a few surprises along the way. The story illustrates to children how comforting and rewarding a good friendship can be as well as how much fun it is to solve a problem with the help of someone who cares about them.

Scarecrow is enjoying the Thanksgiving season when his good friend Tally the witch comes to him with a problem, she has lost her power to fly.

Tally teams up with Scarecrow to help find a Thanksgiving turkey wishbone, which is the key to making a wish for the return of her flying powers!

Wenzel’s beautiful watercolor illustrations really make the whole story come to life.

This is a heart-warming story about friends who look out for each other. Your Kiddo’s will enjoy this one!

About the Author/Illustrator..

Blume Rifken is a former fashion illustrator and attended the Syracuse University School of Fine Arts. She is the author of Silhouettes in America, 1790-1840: A Collector’s Guide.

Inspired by her two grandchildren, Blume penned her first children’s book title Scarecrow Finds a Friend. Halloween and Thanksgiving, the setting for her story, have special, if unusual, recollections for her. As a child, on Halloween, she recalls venturing out on her bicycle and neighbors giving out nickels and dimes rather than candy. Thanksgiving was important because her parents married on that holiday.

Blume and her husband reside in Lewiston, New York, and enjoy attending period plays all spring and summer at the Shaw Festival, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.
