What child doesn’t love making friends with animals? But a moose?! In this lovable creation from the team that brought us The Boston Balloonies, a moose walks right into a boy’s home and introduces himself. The child narrator tells us:
“I met a moose in Maine One Day.
Just how it happened, I can’t say.
I brushed my teeth, I combed my hair
And all at once, the moose was there!”
Together, boy and beast play hide-and-seek (not the best game for a moose), walk into town, dance the night away, and then take off on a fun-filled adventure that neither will ever forget. You won’t forget it either.
The rich, detailed Illustrations by Dave O’Neill are Adorable! I even had to study the pages a bit to see every minuet detail! You can imagine how this alone holds the Kiddo’s attention. The storyline written by Ed Shankman is filled with action-packed Adventure beginning with the main character, a school-aged boy, initially meeting up with the moose, then other friends along the way. I think this line is so cute..
If you want to meet friends and you need an excuse, I suggest that you walk into town with a moose.
There is even mention of chocolate moose cake
This book is such an exciting experience, mixed with fun friendship. It’s one to definitely have on your bookshelf!
Check out Ed and Dave’s New Website here! It really about the timeless art of having fun!
About the Author’s…
Ed Shankman’s entire life has been one long creative project. He has been writing children¹s books since he himself was a child. He has been a performing lead guitar player and an impassioned, if imperfect, painter. He is currently making the rounds with his most cherished project, a novel called the Backstage Man that was written over a period of three decades.
Fittingly, perhaps, Ed has earned a living for most of his adult life as Creative Director at various advertising agencies, using his connection with the creative process to help others make the most of their own creative potential. Prior to entering the advertising industry, Ed spent 7 years as a welder, having mastered the trade while living on an Israeli kibbutz in the late 1970s.
Today, Ed lives in Verona, NJ, with his wife Miriam, who is the love of his life, and their two cats.
Dave O’Neill is an illustrator, graphic designer and all around swell chap. He began drawing when he was a child and is thankful that he never stopped. With his brain firmly anchored in cartoons, video games and pop culture, he moonlights as a comedian with Out of Order, a NJ-based improv comedy troupe. Dave updates a blog featuring his illustrations when he’s not designing t-shirts for his online shirt shop, Swell-bot Industries. He is currently working on an online comic strip, to be launched later this year.
Throughout the years, Dave has worked with several agencies, the first of which is where he met Ed Shankman. Though he has applied his creative strengths to advertising and marketing alike, he admits that drawing children’s books is the most rewarding.
Dave resides in Montclair, NJ with Melinda, the super-cool girl he married. They are the proud owners of a keyboard she won on Double Dare.

This book looks absolutely darling! I am so into reading kids books, especially if the books have great illustrations- for example one of my favorite books to read to my kids is the farm series books by Amanda Lorenzo. Cute story with cute illustrations. We have read the first book in the series titled, “Runt Farm: Under New Management” about 20 times and we still aren’t sick of them.
