“I don’t” is the new ” I do” How marriage is on its death bed and how we can possibly revive it

Gold Digger Nation: Why You Should Remain Single…

Hal Roback is a provocative expose of marriage and the gold digger laws which affect it. The divorce laws will not only determine your life after separation, says Roback, “but how it influences your marriage from the get-go.”

Roback, who dubs himself “a dupe”, wrote Gold Digger Nation from first-hand experience. Part one of the book is a creative story describing a typical gold digger-dupe relationship; part two delves into Roback’s research and commentary on the do’s and don’ts of marriage, why only 18 percent of couples consider themselves happy in this union, advice to young men and women considering marriage, and suggestions on how to save the institution of marriage.

“You see, it’s not so much a fear of commitment, it’s a fear of living in a Gold Digger Nation, that makes potential brides and grooms nervous”, adds Roback. “Don’t get married until you read this book and educate yourself on what it means to be married in a “Gold Digger Nation”, says Roback.

Gold Digger Nation originally started as a long letter to Roback’s son and daughter, but evolved into a book for everyone’s sons and daughters. “As parents, it’s our responsibility to communicate the birds and the bees with our children, and later, the dupe and gold digger realities in our gold digger nation.

At first, I’m like ok, be prepared, this is going to be one of those “slam women” books, however, it really isn’t.  Now, on the other hand if you’re only out there to marry for money, and have no desire for a deep relationship filled with love and respect, you wouldn’t pick up a copy of this book anyways.

Gold Digger Nation follows a relationship from meeting for the first time to the very end.  It shows us how we can get swept up the the excitement of dating, to being married with what we all would like to have,  the white picket fence, to having children, and all the little signs along the way that should raise a red flag that maybe this isn’t exactly what we wanted for ourselves.

If you’ve ever been through a divorce, you know of all the frustration, pain, and anger that is played out in various stages.  Even the most well-intentioned, soon to be divorced couples can’t escape some sort of lashing out.

Hal discusses the pros and cons of a prenuptial agreements in today’s society, property distribution, alimony, child support, to the dreaded custody issues.

I will say that I’m very glad that I am in a wonderful marriage which is filled with love and respect because it can get nasty out there!  In my opinion, people need to take a step back, put their lives in perspective,  and look at what marriage and family is really suppose to be about.  Like with anything else,  material items should not be the everything in your life.

I recommend that both men and women read this book.  The author does have several valid points, and isn’t shy about laying everything out on the table, and I respect him for that.
