The most romantic day of the year, which happens to be our Anniversary  Raley’s is helping customers find a way to show they care – by making an elegant, four-course meal easy to prepare at home.

Back by popular demand, the Ultimate Valentine’s Day Dinner for Two is packed with sumptuous flavors, like USDA Choice filet mignon and plump strawberries dipped in Guittard chocolate – for half the price of a fine steakhouse.

Each year we wrestle with deciding whether to go out to eat on Valentine’s Day, our Anniversary.  Do we want to fight the crowds?  Wait 2 hours to be seated?  Eat elbow-to-elbow with complete  strangers?  Normally, we opt for another evening close to our Anniversary, for a much more relaxing atmosphere.  Thanks to Raley’s Family of Fine Stores, we can now have a Fabulous, Romantic dinner at home in front of a fire, with just us enjoying each others company. 

* First Course: Apricot Stuffed Baked Brie
* Second Course: Spring Green Salad with dried cranberries, feta cheese and white balsamic vinaigrette
* Main Course: USDA Choice filet mignon topped with fresh Dungeness crab and drizzled in Béarnaise sauce. Served over a bed of mashed potatoes with asparagus and herb butter, plus ciabatta rolls
* Dessert: Four Nob Hill Trading Co. chocolate dipped strawberries

We started with the apricot stuffed brie which has a wonderfully flaky crust and smooth taste, a delicious start!  The cranberries add that extra zest to the spring green salad along with the feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette.

I pan seared the filet mignon with a little salt and pepper,  then put them in the oven for about 8 minutes, as we like our meat to medium doneness.   Talk about cut-with-a-fork tenderness and full of flavor!  I really enjoyed the dungeness crab, and my husband drooled over the Béarnaise sauce.

As always, we can depend upon Raley’s stores to have the freshest veggies.  The asparagus along with the herb butter is a huge hit with both of us.  You certainly add to the full flavor of a delicious meal when serving creamy mashed potatoes, and browned dinner rolls.

Who wouldn’t luv to sink their teeth into the luscious chocolate dipped strawberries!  A picture tells a thousand words certainly comes into play here..

This delectable meal is very easy to put together, and does only take approximately 35 minutes from start to finish.  We enjoyed every tasty delight, and it sure beats fighting the busy restaurants on a Holiday!

Customers should allow 30 – 45 minutes for preparation and heating. Orders in advance are encouraged and accepted now through Sunday, February 14, while supplies last – quantities are limited.

Dinners are available for pick-up February 12 through February 14, 2010 at select locations during regular store hours.
